Who runs this site?
TestMyTraits is built and maintained by a small, independent team. There's no institutional affiliation, no editorial board, and no claim to a clinical psychology credential — this isn't a licensed assessment and never claims to be one. What we bring instead is careful sourcing and a habit of saying plainly what a test like this can and can't tell you.
Why build another personality test?
Because the honest version of this genre is rarer than it should be. Most free tests hand back a bare four-letter label with flattering, could-apply-to-anyone copy behind it, and quietly skip the fact that a person near the middle of a scale could land on either letter depending on the day. This site was built around the opposite defaults: show the strength behind each letter, flag the close calls, and never claim that a type predicts who you're compatible with.
How are the questions and type descriptions written?
The test items are adapted from the International Personality Item Pool, a public-domain, research-oriented item bank — not written from scratch and not copied from any commercial test. Type descriptions and articles are written in-house, reviewed against a specific set of rules before publishing: no diagnostic language, no Barnum-style copy that would feel true of anyone, and every growth section has to name a real cost, not a humblebrag.
How does this site make money?
Advertising, once a network is approved — the test itself is and stays free, with no account, no paywall, and no email required to see a result. There's no affiliate steering people toward a type-based product recommendation, because type doesn't predict what someone should buy any more than it predicts who they're compatible with.
